16 Hour Lead Risk Assessor Initial

LEAD  RISK ASSESSOR DESCRIPTION:

Lead Risk Assessor courses offered at Chem Scope are CT DPH Approved under 20-478-1 through 3. Since Connecticut is an EPA authorized state, the course are also EPA Accredited under EPA CFR 40 745.226 and meet requirements of OSHA 1926.62. Training is accepted in other states. Check with individual states for any new requirements and added requirements for licensing or certification. Students who successfully complete the initial course become eligible to be certified by DPH in the discipline. They have to meet State requirements, submit a fee and an application.

Required for DPH abatement certification. Must have annual refresher before getting DPH certification renewed. DPH Accredited course.

Role and responsibilities of a risk assessor.Collection of Background information to perform risk assessment. Visual inspection for the purpose of identifying potential sources of lead-based paint hazards.*Covers HUD and Non-HUD HousingSources of environmental lead contamination such as paint, surface dust and soil, water, air, packaging and food,Regulatory Review and Update, The Risk Assessment, How to Do It,The Risk Assessment in Non-HUD Housing, The Risk Assessment in HUD Housing,Lead hazard screen protocol, Applies to HUD and Non-HUD Housing,Sampling and Inspection Guidelines*, Identification of LBP Hazards (Dust and Soil),Sampling for Other Sources of Lead Exposure*, Interpretation of lead-based paint and other lead sampling results, including all applicable State or Federal guidance or regulations pertaining to lead-based paint hazards.*Overview of Key Safety Practices,  Risk Assessment Report Forms*,Recordkeeping,  Preparation of a Final Risk Assessment Report*,Applies to HUD and Non-HUD Housing, Reducing LBP HazardsHazard Reduction/Abatement Recommendations, Development of hazard control options, the role of interim controls, and operations and maintenance activities to reduce lead-based paint hazards.When Interim Controls are Appropriate, Development of Hazard Control Options*

DPH Encapsulation Requirements

*Require hands on training and passing grading on hands on skills for course completion (in addition to full 16 hour attendance and to passing the final written examination).

Prerequisite for those who wish to be fit tested is a medical approval form indicating the individual can wear a respirator and the respirator.

Individuals must be clean shaven in the area of the respirator seal to the face.
