This training covers regulations related to PCB disposal in CT, as well as health effects, sources, and worker safety measures. Specific PCB awareness training is not required by federal regulations. Though the contents of the training are drawn from EPA, CT DEEP, CT DPH, and OSHA guidance documents, this training is not designed to fully satisfy any particular regulation. This training is not designed to prepare workers for PCB removal or abatement, only to recognize its potential presence. This training is not designed to satisfy requirements for other types of occupational safety training, such as but not limited to hazard communication, asbestos awareness, lead awareness, or respirator safety. Classes are given in English. The courses will accommodate 4th grade reading and math skills at a passable level. Attendance of the entire course, full name, attendance screenshots, and a passing quiz score are required to get a certificate.

Respirator Fit Testing

Respirator fit testing must be conducted in person by a competent person. Prerequisite for those who wish to be fit tested is a medical approval form indicating the individual can wear a respirator and the respirator. Individuals must be clean shaven in the area of the respirator seal to the face with a respirator provided by the employer. Fit testing is not included in this ticket price for virtual training. Please contact leigh@chem-scope.com for more information about respirator fit testing.

Virtual Training Requirements

Requirements for attending virtual training include (1) a government-issued photo ID, (2) a PC or Mac computer, (3) a stable internet connection, (4) a functioning webcam, (5) a functioning keyboard, and (6) a functioning mouse. Tablets will not be supported. A functional headset with microphone will be recommended. Each student must be able to download and use the most recent version of Zoom. Students must be able to type to participate in worksheet-based online hands-on activities, or they must be able to print the worksheet, answer by writing, and send a picture to the instructor.

Screenshots will be taken throughout the class to document that each student is present for the entire course. Students must arrive on time to class (typically, 8:00 am EST). Students are also encouraged to be present in the class 30 to 15 minutes early to allow for troubleshooting.

Many of our students will be new to virtual training. If you have questions or concerns about whether virtual training is right for you, please contact our training instructor Leigh Elijah (leigh@chem-scope.com).
