Initial Training: Phased Reopening

Following conversations with representatives of the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, we understand that training centers for essential businesses, including construction, may open under office guidelines.

Because virtual refreshers for lead and asbestos professionals may be done online, excluding OSHA Class III asbestos refreshers and annual 8-hour intact asbestos roofing removal courses, we will continue to offer virtual refreshers throughout the pandemic.  However, the need for initial course offerings is necessary for the construction industry and will begin as soon as practical in a hybrid fashion.

At-risk individuals as described by current CDC, DPH, or other relevant regulatory guidelines should not attend in-person training, but instead continue to stay home and stay safe.

Persons with symptoms of COVID-19 may not enter the Chem Scope, Inc. training center.

Steps taken to ensure the health and safety of all training center occupants include but are not limited to:

  • Social distancing through reduced class capacity and use of masks by all training center occupants
  • Health screening
  • Frequent cleaning and disinfecting protocols
  • Adjustment of hands-on exercises to avoid the shared use of equipment without prior cleaning
  • Reduced refreshments
  • Training for all occupants on reopening processes

If you have questions about initial training during the phased reopening, please contact Leigh Elijah, training instructor and program administrator, at leigh@chem-scope.com

Employees and customers may call the state hotline (211) to report potential violations of reopening rules.
